WHO WE ARE

ASA(ALT) invites innovators to help shape the future of our early-stage reference architectures. Acknowledging the intrinsic nature of our evolving frameworks – they are architectures, not products – our Innovation Exchange Lab (IXL) serves as a hub for collaboration, experimentation, and excellence. Together, we can accelerate the development of the best solutions to support the Army’s mission. Join us in shaping tomorrow’s Army through the power of experimentation.

LET’S GET STARTED

IIXL offers dynamic reference implementations that support the progressive development of Army reference architectures. The Unified Data Reference Implementation (UDRI) exemplifies a practical application of Unified Data Reference Architecture (UDRA) data mesh microservices within an agile framework. This approach serves as a robust foundation for iterative development, encouraging a cohesive understanding and improving collaboration among diverse stakeholder groups. It simplifies development for industry partners, ensures baseline validation, ensures interoperability, and promotes a more comprehensive understanding across the community.

Why

STart with

UDRA

Why start with The UDRA??

Why start with The UDRA?

As part of its digital transformation, the U.S. Army focused on empowering our Warfighters with the critical capability to achieve decision-dominance with the right data at the right time. To accomplish this, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Data, Engineering and Software, DASA(DES) team has developed an approach towards implementing Data Mesh, starting with a Unified Data Reference Architecture (UDRA) that:
flattens and simplifies the Army’s data architecture,
streamlines data-product sharing across mission partners and
supports data-drive decision making at greater speed and scale.
An initial implementation available to operationalize the architecture (Unified Data Reference Implementation, UDRI) is available through the Innovation Exchange Lab (IXL). With this implementation, you can interact with the UDRI services and components to better understand and make decisions about your data solutions and conformance with the UDRA.

HoW IT WORKS

Step 1:  Company and Software Registration

Provide your company’s details, product type and material in the IXL application

Step 2: Evaluation and Technical Consultation

Our team of experts will review your submission for relevancy and provide technical consultation through a technical exchange meeting (TEM).

Step 3: Deployment and Experimentation

Deploy the reference implementation into your environment and assess your solution’s conformance to UDRA.

Step 4: Demonstration and Feedback

Demonstrate your solution in relation to the UDRA and share your own experiment with the DASA(DES) team for feedback.

Focusing On UNDERSTANDING

We are constantly working to communicate and maintain as much transparency with Industry and Academia as possible. We aim to leverage the IXL to help increase understanding of our architectures and frameworks. Through a hands-on approach, registrants can better identify where their solutions align with our design needs and where they may not, allowing them to make better informed decisions.

OUR
Focus

Is
On

UNDERSTANDING

What’s In it for You?

Registration within the IXL is not a contract award. It is an opportunity for innovators like you to gain a better understanding of the U.S. Army designs and make informed decisions about your solutions’ alignment.

Insight into Future Architectures:

Participants gain deeper knowledge of upcoming Army data architecture directions and requirements.
This insight enables them to rapidly and iteratively develop more effective solutions that align with Army needs.

Cost-Free Access

Industry partners can experiment and interact with the Unified Data Reference Implementation from within their own environments, offering a financially accessible opportunity for innovation and development.

Open to All Innovators

We welcome a diverse range of innovators, not limited to those within DoD. This inclusive approach broadens the scope of creativity and technological advancement.

Remote, Convenient Access

Our platform is accessible remotely through commercial internet, allowing innovators from anywhere to engage with our ecosystem conveniently and efficiently.

Reduced Technology Debt

Early involvement in our experimental environment allows industry partners to adapt and learn alongside us, potentially reducing technology debt and saving costs in the long run by staying ahead of evolving trends and requirements.
